Sensory

I had a nice time in the the sensory room this morning playing with Air. We used he fan to experiment with different fabrics and. Small hand held windmills. It was awesome

Decorating the tree

I have been getting ready for christmas and part of that was decorating the big christmas tree in the lunchroom at the centre. I helped do it with my friends. It looks really cool

I enjoyed our day out and gave Nicole a hand cooking all the food.i ate three sausages..yum yum ,!

Pottery art works

This year Arohanui pottery was a part of Bethlehem pottery clubs annual bay clay art exhibition at bay court. My lovely black spotted plate was pride of place atour stall. Didn't my plate turn out wonderful

Fun at the circus

Today for music we had a circus themed session there was lots of carnival music and tricks. There was even fire poi!

AUCKLAND

What an awesome day we had yesterday in Auckland we went to kelly tarltons and saw the big sharks and sting rays then off to sky city where we got a tour of the sky tower 60 stories high! What an awesome day.

Learning the Charleston

In music I was learning all about 1920's dancing. We watched videos of the Charleston and the foxtrot. It was really fun. 

Soccer match

We had a soccer match yesterday, it was lots of fun, I helped be goalie.

I have been working hard in renovation spring painting. Now there are some really cool finished pieces made out of recycled wood ready to sell for christmas!

I have had a great week at the centre, I have been trying lots of things, I was was snapped checking out the electric drums. Very cool. 

Kite flying and crab hunting

For guys group we went to rotary park and went hunting for crabs. We found a few crabs, sea snails and some baby shrimp! It was so windy we also flew a bright green kite, I held on to it and it flew up so high in the sky. It was great fun.

Fish n chips

We went to the strand for fish n chips. Was lots of fun being at the waterfront with all the guys.

Productive in pottery

Hi guys, I have been very. Jusy in pottery lately, I have just fired a cool Art Deco plate which is ready for painting and glazing and I have started a new project to get ready for christmas. I will be making a special project that will be revealed at the end of the year. Here is a sneak peak.....

Out to a show

Today I got out and about to watch the drama production marry popins.

Basketball game

Yesterday we challenged Wilrose to a game of basketball.  It was so much fun, I didn't play but I helped ref the game.

Art and crafts

I painted a piece of wood blue.Then I sponge painted over a stencil of my name.....I might take this one home for my room !!!

Fishing

Recently in guys group I went fishing at the back of the historic village. There is a cool creek and river down there along a walkway. We sure had fun hunting and gathering!!

Lunch activities

I really love my friends in the centre and at lunch time today I wanted to get involved in the activities everyone was doing. I told my friends about my favourite show Arthur. We all watched an episode together. How fun!

Drama

I had fun watching my friends at the recent drama production,Hansel and Gretel.I loved watching all the dancing to the songs !!

Computer fun

Today I had computers so I had a go on the iPad, I had great fun touching the screen with my finger and seeing what happened and all the designs I made!

Garden Mad

Today we had a lovely outing to the Community Garden. I always get excited when I see it from the can and cant wait to get out and see how the plants are doing. Today I found a cool Gardening magazine and was so interested in the book I read it all through my afternoon tea and wouldn't put it down. 

Renovation

I have been very busy in renovation the last few weeks restoring some small chairs. We have painted them some really cool colours and have put some really funky patterns over the paint. 

Seashells

I have been busy making clay seashells to add to a lovely big coil pot we are making in pottery at the moment. We will be attaching the shells onto the side of the pot to make it look really fancy. I am getting really good at working this clay!

Pirates!

Greetings all ye land lubbers! In guys group we have started an exciting new study into the legends of Warriors! We will be studying warriors from different countries and periods of history. This week we focused on Pirates! I helped make pirate hats, swords and cannon balls out of newspaper. Then we sailed on down to some soggy ground and had a game of "capture the flag" where hide e

Our flags at our base and then plunder the other teams area and capture their flag (and any booty we an get our hands on and then see who gets the enemies flag back to base first. We also played "cannon ball attack"  where we fired our cannon balls at each other. I had so much fun!

Getting my hands dirty.

I have been enjoying my pottery sessions and have been enjoying touching the clay, moulding the creations and now painting the finished product. Here I am painting some fish I have made. 

Planes planes planes!

I have been getting really hand-on around the centre lately, in guys group we are studying planes, we went to the Greerton Hobby shop and checked out all the cool model planes. We then went tothe variety   store and brought some cool small polystyrene planes that we put together and flew in the sensory room. I have been working hard in pottery too making coil pots and painting small aeroplanes. I have been so busy! 

Pottery

I have been part of the team that have been making the latest coil pots.It has been a new experience for me rolling the clay into coils and something that I quite liked !! It's a cool pot ,eh ??!!

Taking photos with the iPad

I have been very clever in computers today and have been taking pictures of myself and Nigel with thePhoto booth  programme on the iPad. The pictures turned out really cool. 

Gold Panning

This week in guy's group we went to practice our gold mining skills in preparation for our exciting trip to the Waihi gold mine soon! 

We took our chances down at Sulphur point and what do you know? I found some gold!

Music time!

On Friday I had an excellent time during my music session. We had both Te Puke and Wilrose centres came to join us, so we had many loud proud and lovely voices singing together. We all sounded fabulous!

Picking fruit.

We went for a lovely walk through the community garden this week. We were picking fruit and veges to take to the entire and watering the garden. During our hunt we found a raspberry bush full of delicious raspberries! I absolutely loved them!

Boat watching at the mount

I went on a cool outing with my friends to mount Maunganui to see if we could catch sit of the huge cruise ship that was visiting the town. Man it was HUGE. All of the people and buildings looked really small compared to it. 

Out and about.

I have had a nice busy couple of days, this week I went Bedford hunting in Tauranga but we were unable to find any trucks but we till had a nice time. We also went for another outing which was a nice walk along the board walk in Judea.

We went to the buried village yesterday.  We went on a long walk and got to see lots of old things from  the eruption and learnt about what happened to the people living in the village when Mt Tarawera erupted

McLarens Falls

I recently went on an exciting trip to McLarens Falls with my friends. we fed bread to the ducks that were living in the pond. We saw the beautiful water falls and studied the rock formations that had been carved out by the water over many years. It was a lovely day and I really enjoyed getting out and about!

Outdoor adventures!

I have been having many exciting adventures the last couple of weeks including an outing with the rest of the lads at the Kopurererua reserve. We are doing a wetlands study and have had fish in he centre that we collected last week. We have been feeding and observing them and just released them back into their creek. We have also been collecting flax to make into traditional Maori fishing lines to catch Eels with next week!

This week in computers I experimented with taking photos on the iPad. I took a lovely photo of my friend Nigel. Nigel also took a photo of me holding my favourite interactive Arthur computer game that I like to use. 

Community garden

I have really enjoyed my community garden visits in the last two weeks. Last week I picked some rhubarb stems and took them home to mum. We had delicious rhubarb and custard for desert!

Today we collected some cucumber, courgettes and corn. We also planted some herbs in our garden patch. Here is Tame and I with our HUGE collection of Vegetables to take home.
